Hi All, If you applying for SSI or SSD or both together there is a chance you will be turned down at least three times unless you have a lawyer. Just reply for it. Here in New York State it takes in most case 3 three times to get your SSI and SSD. For my son John I had all my ducks in a role and went to a hearing over his SSI. When they turned him down for it I demanded a court hearing. Believe me they changed their minds and gave it to him including all his back pay. I also proved to several doctors that these children with Autism will never change some will get worst and with meds some will get a little better. Just stay on top of it. I have at least 5 full boxes of notes and records from doctors. Look all I can say to you is keep fighting and down give up for any reason because its your child you are fighting for. Later,

John

Leave the South. NJ, PA, NY most of New England, California, Hawaii and to some degree, North Carolina are better states for autism. So sorry it's this way - but adults with real autism don't usually vote and their caregivers are too exhausted to be very politically active - or even out in public much - so the politicians don't care - no votes or money for them - so why do they care - Especially down south.

There is Ssi for your child. I am lucky to be able to stay at home with my 22 month old . And it is not easy but it is so worth it in the end . He is getting better with me home . He is non verbal. So check with you state and see.

Your 'Child' has to be an 'Adult', but there are programs out there than can help. Every State is different so you will have to do your research, talk to other parents of ASD Children in your immediate area.
