My daughter is 10, is in the 5th grade, and transitioning to middle school next year. She is HF ASD, and struggles most with academics. I hesitate to put her in a NPS, as it will limit her exposure to gen ed kids, reducing her exposure to her higher functioning models, and I have heard they are not academically challenging.
