We pay a large portion too. I would suggest Googling self-funded insurance policies, learning what you can, and then speaking to HR at the company. Every employer is different.

It basically means an employer provides health benefits to its employees through its own funds.

Unfortunately if the employer self-funds the insurance they are not subject to the FL autism mandate and must only abide by ERISA, which is federal and as of right now, there is no federal mandate regarding autism coverage. We're currently facing this now. I wish I could be more helpful but unfortunately I keep running into roadblocks myself.
