Ugggh! IMO, risperdal should have been banned years ago. Neurologist put my son on it when he was 2. WE took him off at 18. The school literally REQUIRED him to be on it because he was more “manageable.” If you knew my baby, you’d understand how laughable that is! Another neurologist put him on Abilify with the same Zombie effect. When moving, he accidentally wasn’t getting his Abilify and by the 5th day, he was holding full conversations with his younger sister. No more blank stares, shrugged shoulders or I don’t knows. It was, “Mom, do you wanna come see what I’m making?” 😳
My point is this, yes there’s a gut issue in many autistic children. Mine definitely has one. He literally would and has tried to starve because he wanted f*^.ing cheetos and cheese products, I do believe the gut needs to heal in all of their cases; However, one probiotic is not, will not and can not do it without eliminating EVERYTHING else that might be leaking into their system...including all the dope that’s been crossing the blood-brain barrier since their dx. And btw, you HAVE to go casein-free and soy free if Probiotics are going to have any effect. You might have better luck nowadays with that. 20 years ago, it bankrupted us financially, emotionally and almost spiritually. Israel and now America is having good luck with Camel milk a🥛and Autism (I know, it sounds crazy) but it’s working and there are even camel farms specifically for milking here in the US. If you’re going to do research, limit it to countries who have a vested interest in CURING people and not “managing” nonconformity or diseases. The US has just about shut us out of seeing other countries research. Be careful listening to these adverts. You and your daughter will be preyed upon. All my love. Peace and acceptance are within reach. I promise. ♥️

My son was on risperdal when he was first diagnosed. He was 10 years old at the time. I did not like the side effects and the next medicine he took was Abilify. That did work better was it so very expensive even though we have very good insurance. Some of the meds did affect his digestive system which was very problematic. When Brian first started taking these medicines, it did help his behaviors. The last medicine he was on was depakote. That worked very well, did not break the bank, but made him sleepy. He no longer takes medicine and for the most part does pretty well. He is 22 and is in college now.

I don't know about the star probiotic you mentioned. Brian did have peptic disease before his diagnosis of Asberger's. I do not remember what medicine he was on for the peptic disease. In grade school, he had a very hard time dealing with the stress of school.
