If you were using the medicine to calm him down, it isn’t a good idea. Natural forms are always better, our kids need release. Invest in a punching bag, run, play an organized sport, or any other activity.
If your son is non verbal, communicate with social stories about his emotions, or about anything else.
I pushed myself into my son’s world, I did everything he did.
I would take him of the Latuda and call his doctor. Say it’s urgent. If the med causing side effects the doctor needs to know. I had an experience with my son when he was 10. His doctor prescribed a medicine that caused him to be a little aggressive. My son complained his anger was out of control and felt like he was going to explode. The doc upped the dose. Looking back, she probably thought my son’s reactions were coming from his diagnosis rather than from medication’s side effects. Two days later my son became a monster! I almost had to take him to the emergency room. It took him 6 months, yes six months to recover from 3 weeks of the wrong med!
Wishing you and your son the best {{hugs}}
I have tried Latuda. My son is 19. He was extremely aggressive, hitting himself and others. It’s been two weeks and he’s starting to calm down. However I’m noticing more OCD and anxiety now.
My son was put on latuda for the past week and he has been more aggressive than usual and not able to sooth. He is 17 and has not had major problems until this year with anger and aggression.
Over a year ago. We were on the waiting list for three years.
