As part of IEP, can I request them to give him the standard academic assessment to see where he is at? My child is in third grade in a Montessori school and I haven’t done an IEP since the pandemic so I think it’s time. Montessori has no plans to test him.
As the parent you have every right to request for a meeting for an IEP for your child. The school has to do what the parents request. Then the school has so many days to get the request done. I believe it is 30 days that the has. You have to put it in writing. By email or writing it on paper for the request. The letter would need to go to your childs case worker or whoever is in charge of your child at school. Good luck it is a process that is long. But if you feel it needs to be done. Start the request now before school is out.
School psychologists are obliged to recertify special education students every three years. So if the last evaluation was the 2019-2020 school year, the reevaluation would be this year. If the school is receiving federal funds, they have to do this. If they aren't, you can and should ask for testing, especially if you suspect the results will be different from the last round of testing.
It sounds like a private school. That means they are not legally obligated since they don't take state funds
