Medication And Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My son has been having some bad habits. Hitting throwing things yelling ect. We may be putting him on meds. Other parents I spoke with said it made a difference for the better when they did this. What are your thoughts? Hope you all have a blessed day.

My son is on abilify and it helps him stay level. Every kid is different though. He is sensitive to stuff like constipation and has allergies. The physical stuff should not be forgotten but I think his meds help him handle the discomforts of life a little better than without them.

Make sure that his health is alright.
My Son only acts out when He's having Health Issues.
It could just be Gas, and Acid-Reflux.
He could be having a Headache, or Migraine.
Or it could because he's having trouble expressing himself and is frusrated.

I've read and heard from others that antipsychotics may help. I take Abilify, myself, coupled with Zoloft, for anxiety. I definitely feel even-keel! 😊

My son is 7 and autistic he takes Depakote at night, does anyone know about this medication? It seems like it gives him restless leg syndrome, he is mostly non-verbal.
