We are considering a move to the LA area and are looking specifically at living in South Bay -- Palos Verdes or Torrance. Does anyone have experience with the PV School District with an Aspie teen? How were the middle or high schools? What about schools in Torrance? If public schools didn't work, which private schools in the West LA or South Bay areas would you recommend for grades 7 and up. I am looking for a elementary school in San Diego that have good special ed programs for my autistic son. We live in san Diego unified school district boundary. I wonder if it's complicated to enroll for schools in another district for a kid with IEP?

My son started kindergarten last week and he has a paraprofessional. It's been a rough start, my son is pulling things of shelves, makes noises and even kicked some people in the classroom. He's not violent with us, so this has to be related to being overwhelmed

My son is 3 and after experiencing the IEP with our school's district, I want to learn more about private schools that accept autistic kids. It's a little down the line time-wise but for those who have/has good experiences in sending their kids to private, which ones worked, and why? And, if you had a good experience in public, which school district?

Moving to South Bay (California). Does anyone know which school districts are most receptive to high functioning kids on the spectrum. Moved from Maryland, which was a battle to Kansas, whose school district was awesome. Thanks.

My 7-year-old autistic son is high-functioning and goes to grade 1 in a regular school and regular class. He has some challenges with paying attention, sitting, and following some rules but he is doing well academically. His teacher has told us we should consider sending him to special classes in other schools. We feel that the teacher's advice is mostly for her comfort rather than the benefit of our child. Any advice on what should be our strategy toward this problem?

my son is 4 years old and on the spectrum. Im having a hard time finding an elementary school for him. He starts kindergarten in September and I feel like every school I call for open house never knows how to answer any questions about children with autism. They're very dismissive and I'm kind of getting discouraged. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

My son and I are looking to move to CA next year. I'm in search of the best schools for special needs, the best resources, programs and activities for him. He's never had ABA services but could use it. He's high-functioning, loves cooking, swimming, fishing, painting, playing musical instruments and a host of other things.
