I have a nine year old boy with autism and I would like to read up on Autism and puberty due to his behavior lately(very moody) I want to be sure it is not early puberty .
I have wanted to do that as well. I asked my son's doctor what If any difference are there with a child going through autism with puberty and a regular adolescent bot. He said the only difference is… read more
My 4 1/2 year old son, ASD - high functioning has shown very aggressive behavior recently and it was this time last year that he had similar behavior. This year he is screaming, hitting, easily melts down. Last week he hit a teacher, threw his shoes at another teacher and was sent home Thursday for pulling a young girls hair. He was home for 2 weeks in for winter break so my husband and I think it has allot to do with transitioning into the new year, no more Christmas, no more presents, no more… read more
Thank you, this was helpful
I also have one!
I just read a snippet on autismspectrum.org about a documentary called Autism in Love. Has anyone else seen this movie? If so, what did you think about it?
Thank you for stating that. I also feel down, even when it is a positive story!!!
Pediatrician insists on getting diagnosis and not referring daughter anywhere for therapy or assistance.. pediatrician sent us to 2 places that are pointless that cannot give diagnosis.. we just desparately need some behavior tips/help with the tantrum meltdowns screaming anger issues..
I was told that in Delaware everything is covered from age 3 up till 22.
How much of a role does your pediatrician play in guidance and management of your child's autism orsten to any of my concerns and really doesn't know much about autism. He basically said where my daughter was diagnosed should guide me through the management of her autism. He basically treats my children (even my neurotypically children) like they are on the next person on line at the grocery store. He doesn't remember us or even any of the referrals he wrote, hence why I looking for another… read more
I don't use a pediatrician. I never have. I have a family doc that treats us all. He's amazing. All I had to do was mention I thought Will had autism and he set me up with early intervention services… read more
So i was wondering if anyone has been told the same as me. When people fnd out your son or daughter is autistic they say. Oh but they look normal. Is there a certain look they have to look?.
I get the same thing. It's infuriating to me.
We are booked for a cruise on Royal Caribbean. They do have Autism friendly certification and I have notified them at booking. I do not want to change my booking to autism on the seas (I get concerned with 3rd party vendors). My question now is what should I kind of plan for on the port excursions? We are going Cozumel and Belize. Gabe is pretty well behaved, gets excited easily and not to many melt downs. He does not like to walk to much. If push comes to shove Gabe can always get a piggy back… read more
Sorry, I was on a Carnival cruise not Royal Caribbean.
When my son was 3 years old his best friend (his sister my daughter) went to live with her dad in Texas. And my son has only seen her twice since then. I know when she left I saw a huge change in my son. He was a whole different child. The bond between the two of them was so close they did everything together. But I was wondering if there anyway that the tragedy of her leaving and not being able to see her could cause him to have signs and symptoms of ASD or Aspergers. I sit and I watch my son… read more
