I know I'm reaching here, but there are just so many traits of autism that my son doesn't exhibit. He doesn't line anything up, has no problems with noises or crowds, very affectionate with lots of people, doesn't toe walk, doesn't cover ears or flap, loves climbing everywhere, eats a huge variety of foods

Red food coloring can really cause hyper manic behavior. It is in all kinds of candy, snack foods, processed food and medicines.

I had my son in regular daycare. They said he needed more one on one help so was put in IEP classes. It's helping him. Also speech and Occupational Therapy. He 3 years old.

Has anyone ever experienced their child having or seeming to have psychosis or episodes where their child just seems completely out of touch with reality or in their own world? It sounds more like schizophrenia.
My son was just diagnosed with mild-moderate autism and language disorder in September. There are still many questions and things that he does not understand. The psychologist also said that he has borderline intelligence. He said that this is not for sure and should be retested in 3 years. If your child is pretty high functioning and doesn't have a lot of obvious behavior issues, have you considered not doing all the therapy? My child is almost two. Everywhere I look, it says "get him in intensive therapy now!!!!"
