Hi,
i am new here. My son, 3 years old, was recently diagnosed with ASD. We want to start ABA for him, but Trumpet and ACES have a waiting list of 2 months.
Any recommendation on providers in the area that don't have long waiting lists?
thanks
We had A is for Apple. They were great on the therapist side but the admin side was a nightmare. They were very happy to take regional center funding but not to work with our private insurance.

My 4 year old son is autistic and still uses no words. He has come a long way (for him) in the past year as far as noticing when other people are in the room and wanting to be involved with me and his dad more but he is so hyperactive and he has such a hard time stopping long enough to focus on me or his teachers to learn anything. I just wonder if we would make more gains with speech if he could focus long enough to learn to communicate. I have noticed more lately he actually looks me in the… read more
I feel ya JennyT, my son is the same way, very selective. However, he has opened up his palate a little more. Just be patient, things will change in time, good luck.
Hi guys,
I'm seeking opinions on retirement locations for parents with adult children. I'll retire in another decade, but want to lay the groundwork for a smooth transition. I anticipate my adult son will live with us, so I'm looking for areas with the best services. My current location is pretty decent in terms of services, but it's too costly for retirees. All info is much appreciated!
Thanks.

Any parents have a child with this condition?
Yeah, we're going through this also.
I currently homeschool my children (this is my 13th year). My oldest is in college and my middle is a senior. My question is concerning my 13 year old autistic child. Does anyone have advice concerning homeschool vs. virtual charter school vs. brick and mortar school? What are your experiences ?
Hi Cbruddy, I too, homeschooled my son for 4 yrs.. I used CAVA, acronym, California Virtual Academy, but they exist statewide. The program is phenomenal, a big work load, but your child will still… read more

My 5 year old autistic daughter has been saying she has been hearing voices. Not like an imaginary friend playing with her... But more like a cat telling her to do things or another voice telling her to do things (not always nice things)... It's not that she is trying to make it up to get out of trouble (I don't think); she has even mentioned it without having anything happened. Has anyone else's child experienced anything like this??? I know it sounds crazy. Please don't bash my daughter or… read more
I agree with Low_Budget_Dave, get your daughter screened for possible mental issues, nothing wrong with that. I'm sure once diagnosed, your daughter will get the help she needs.
Has anyone used colostrum supplement for their child on the autism spectrum?
There are sensory chew sticks, jewelry, Chewy tubes and different items as such available. Some have nubs for extra sensory input.
My son continues to lose weight and nothing we've tried works. I'm hoping that a nutritionist, preferably one that specializes or at least knows about the struggles of autism, might be able to help. Any information would be much appreciated. My baby is getting so skinny! :(
