Has Anyone Ever Heard Of The Check And Connect Program?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My son has a lot of difficulty with organizational skills, so he often forgets to bring things home that he needs for homework. This program is supposed to help with things like that, but when I called my son's school to ask about it nobody knew what it was. So, I was wondering if anyone had any information about it?

I also would remind the special ed teacher and the helper to check his bag before he goes home. He is high functioning so they forget to help at the end of the day or they think he can do it on his own. he brings home much more now that he has that notebook. Just leaves his milk jug at school.

In my sons school the third grade teacher gave them all a notebook that they have to write down what they do that day and what they need to do for homework. At home we have to sign it when it is complete. Works pretty well. Though at school someone else writes in the book. He wouldn't put anything in there if it was up to him. ;O)

My son is now in 5th grade next year middle school. New special ed teacher and she took away the large binder that didn't seem to help at all and no one was checking anything. We now use a binder that goes between me and the special ed person. Works great.

I just of something... you could laminate a tag and put it on his back pack. Pictures of items he needs to bring home. Also, give one to the special ed teacher... just to show her but tell her to put it above his coat or somewhere visual he will see before he leaves. Funny but I bet the special ed would be more helpful if they see it too.
