Mary, could you please provide the full name of the program or the actual website you are referring to? I also have a son who could benefit from an on-line course. Thank you.

Our son is what you call a kinetic learner, meaning he learns best by doing mostly hands-on activities with maybe a little bit of reading. This last year, we used The Story of US with a LOT of activities I pulled together or created myself to teach him US history. This year, we need to go on to ancient history and I've been told The Story of the World is pretty good by several people while a few others have suggested a digital program by Amy Puetz is good too. The Story of the World is around $70 while the curriculum by Amy Puetz is about $100. Both programs only give you a few pages to try and see if they work for you and your family and we've tried other programs before with just a few pages, thought they would work and bought them, only to find out once we really tried the program once it arrived, they really weren't a good fit. I wouldn't mind it so much if I could find one or the other used, but from what I understand you aren't supposed to purchase a digital program second hand. Does anyone have any suggestions or a good hands-on program I could purchase second hand?

Apologia for Science is WONDERFUL for Science, and we also used Mystery of History 1 and 2. They are very user friendly, with lesson plans laid out in the front of the book for all age/grades. It can be pricey, but we found it very useful. Check Ebay and Christianbooks.org I think. They have a lot of books at discounted prices. Check with your local libraries as well.

How is the time4learning high school program? Anyone used?
