I didn't read all of the posts, so this might have been covered, but the iPad 2 is $100 less then the new iPad 3's. So you should be able to get 32 or 64 for a good deal.

I bought the 32 for my son. The salesperson said that the 32 would be plenty unless you are running some kind of graphics for advertising, etc.

Here are some apps my son enjoys: ABC Tracer, Grasshopper Apps (they have several really good apps.) little speller, Slapps apps, photo touch apps.

If you are looking for autism communication apps, proloquo2go has been rated the best. But it is very pricey. There is another app called Tap To Talk that is free. So you may want to try it first to see if your son likes working with it. All of my apps are usually free or up to $1.99. You can get some good apps for free just research your options. You can google autism app reviews and get a lot of feedback.

I found this site with reviews that seemed very helpful: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AjbIta...

Get the OTTER case. It increases the weight by quite a bit, but our ipad has been dropped off stairs and keeps on working!!! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!!!

For those of you concerned about the iPad getting damaged, check out http://www.biggrips.com That's what we have for my son and it's awesome! This foamy case gives the device LOTS of protection and makes it very easy to hold - especially with those who may have fine or gross motor challenges. AND, you can also purchase an accompanying stand for it which will let your iPad stand up in landscape or portrait mode.

Hello, I bought the 32 because speech apps require a lot of memory. My son loves it. If you can afford it, get the biggest memory you can. Good deal now too because the ipad2 has been discounted $100 on every model:)
