My son is 4.5yrs old and does show a preference for most things crunchy vs squishy. Instead of fresh bananas, he will eat banana chips. Based on that observation, I got a bunch of other dried fruits and those seem to work well for him. Oddly, he likes apple sauce though. Go figure. Trader Joes (IS AWESOME) makes 'veggie chips' but you can also find Terra Chips (thinly sliced beets, parsnips, sweet potatos that are made into chips) and that can help make the veggie group more appealing. Sometimes I can cut food into fun shapes and that helps or serve the item with a favorite sauce (ie ranch). I tried making a 'monkey face' (english muffin with peanut butter on it..then make a face with other types of food) just like they did in school, but he didn't go for it at home. I've recently had my son start to help in the kitchen with meal prep. That seems to spark his interest in the food and he tried cous-cous for the first time tonight and loved it! I might be able to sneak some veggies, beans or nuts into that mix. Good luck!

KathleenFiozzo - Girl.. I LOVE your attitude!! I am in the very same place!! Who cares!! He is very healthy. He is growing. He's a tad on the skinny side.. but.. hey, the doctor doesn't care so why so I be concerned!! Every day I try to put something on the plate that is outside his realm. If he eats it.. GREAT.. if not.. GREAT!! One day I was shocked when he INHALED Salsa!! I mean come on, this from a kid who eats bland food.. can NOT get enough salsa?? Just keep trying..

Gerber Graduates Pasta Pickups - Toddler Ravioli; believe it or not Doritos; meatballs (though very recently and he is six); yogurt; broccoli and cheese; pizza (though he only eats the cheese and sause). Hope this helps!

I think there really is something to the opiates theory because my DD has become significantly less picky an eater since we went gluten- and casein-free.
