For anyone who lives in the greater Boston (MA) area, I am starting a program this fall called "Michael's Place" (named after my brother, Michael, who has Autism). The program is going to be a Friday night respite program for children ages 6-10 with Autism and their siblings! We will do arts&crafts, cooking, games, and animal care (optional). There ARE people, you could try asking local public school districts to advertise for you and also churches, libraries, shopping stores, disability service organizations etc... In Glen Ellyn, IL which is too far for me to attend they have a group like this and she was actually able to turn a small apartment like area into a sensory playroom!

How I wish we had something like this in San Diego. NAMI has support groups for young adults, but none of them quite fit Grandson's Asperger's.
I'm in greater Hartford area and would love to have something like that closer for my two children with autism.
