In that case, I would really recommend hiring an advocate if there is any way you can afford the cost. It sounds to me like he should be mainstreamed with an aide and possibly a pullout for social skills training. A good advocate can really help you get the services your child needs from reluctant district administrators. Good luck!
This is illegal. The law states that the child is not fit into a program, but programming fit to the child. Get an advocate.

They believe it would not be beneficial for him to be in an ASD class. However, I have no idea if he will receive any help in class this year. I am a bit anxious. I am in Quebec,Canada and here there is a policy to integrate disabled children as much as possible. Is there something like that in NY? Are there other intervenants involved in these decisions (like a social worker) that could help you? Any recommandations from a therapist that you could use to argue with the school?
