Did either of you go to get your child accessed to see what level of need they require? If not, you need to. There are special schools for the children who are in need. They need to have speech therapy and others. Please talk to a county agency and see what they offer for children of special needs.

Sounds like you need an advocate in the IEP meetings.

If a students goals have not been met, then they must modify the goals to make make them measurable and attainable . This is a red flag that the program is not his LRE. If the district does not find the appropriate program and the goals continue not to be met you have a reason to request a fair hearing.

There is absolutely no reason why you should see no gains in 5 years, and goals should change annually. Both my husband and myself work in the autism field (he is with severe students and I'm with students still in public schools) and have 2 sons on the spectrum. We both must provide obtainable goals for our students annually and if we feel the goal becomes unattainable during the year we are suppose to change the goal to an obtainable one. I'm not sure what level your daughter is at but some of the goals my husband works with his students are as simple as brushing teeth/personal hygiene or work prep skills like folding towels or sorting silverware. Even the lowest of students can have goals to will help them obtain the best life possible. As far as problems with bus/going in buildings this could be a goal they work on with her, believe me we see it all the time. One of my husbands students had severe issues with stairs/elevators and their class was on the 5th floor. They worked for several weeks to get him on the stairs and then for several more weeks to get him on the elevator. Now he does both without any issues. Fight for your daughter she deserves an education just like any other child.
