Behavior Therapy? Vs Social Skills Groups
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Social Skills group have not worked for Daniel, b/c he doesn't absorb the info. Should I look into 1:1 behavior therapy to help him with social skill and anger management? I dunno, we're a little "therapy drunk" and not sure it's worth the effort/cost to run around....?

If you get behavior therapy for your son, make sure it includes a component of training you on strategies to help him manage his anger and any other issues you are dealing with. 1:1 is great.... but you need to be able to follow-through outside of therapy. I believe a good therapist is worth their weight in gold. But not all of them are good.

I agree with Jill Longenecker. It is worth your time. And yes you do have to follow thru with what the therapist is doing or it wont work. If you dont understand yourself ask questions.Cause in the long run it is all worth it.
