Members enthusiastically collaborated to build a community glossary of autism-related acronyms and terms after recognizing how confusing the medical and educational jargon can be for newcomers. Several members contributed essential abbreviations including IEP (Individualized Educational Plan), ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), OT (Occupational Therapist), PT (Physical Therapist), 504 plans, SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), and GF/CF (Gluten Free/Casein Free), along with helpful context about school accommodations and therapy types. A recurring theme was the warm, welcoming tone as members validated each other's confusion and celebrated this practical resource, with occasional humor and personal tips woven in, such as one member sharing success using melatonin for their child's sleep challenges.
