my son has a tablet , but loves using my phone ..... i want something that is more educational for him ... because all he uses my phone for is YouTube. I am just wondering if getting a leapforg pad would get his attention.

I have an 8-year old daughter with Asperger's and ADHD. Her grandfather bought her a LeapPad2 for Christmas. She loves it! I just bought her the new Brave game. We also bought the rechargeable battery pack and a protective case for her to carry it safely.

When she was about 4, we bought a LeapFrog laptop. She got real frustrated because she couldn't control the mouse enough due to her lack of fine motor skills. She has been using computers at school, and so now has some of the skills to move the mouse around. She used to use my laptop and I would go to www.abcya.com for her to play educational games. It's a free site and she loves the games.

We don't have an iPhone, iPad, Kindle Fire, or any other type of tablet/internet device. The LeapPad2 allows her to finally be able to play games after doing her homework and not interrupt me if I'm on the laptop working in my home office.

At home, I've already noticed improvement in her eye-to-hand coordination, fine motor skills, and balance/agility. She's not having nearly as many trips and falls as she usually does either.

For my daughter, the LeapPad2 was perfect!

Honestly, I would say to spring for the Kindle Fire or the iPAD. My son is 4 and doesn't even touch the Leap Frog anymore once he got the Kindle, and also has access to my iPAD. I have lots of apps for him including some that his Speech Therapist uses so I can continue some of the activities at home.
