It really bugs me that people question my son's diagnosis bc he "seems fine" according to them. I wouldn't take someone's personal opinion as a diagnosis in any other situation, why would I take it for ASD? They have a picture in their heads about what ASD "should" be like and want to ask if the doctors are sure they have the right diagnosis. Then when I explain how the doctors explained it to me, they give me that "yeah, ok" look. Irritating!!!

And I think one of the biggest reasons it bothers me is that I already question myself and wonder if maybe it really is ASD and after they do that it makes it worse. Our diagnosis is very new (just a couple of months) and I keep reading things that say doctors are over diagnosing ASD (I don't think so though), and he's already made a little bit of progress in a couple things since he's been in the developmental preschool. I guess all of these combined make me nervous about it. I don't know, just freaking out I guess!
@Ms_Teacher_lady I am glad you are just being yourself and that you have found that more relaxing and comforting. You should not have to hide who you are and neither should anyone who has ASD or any other affliction for that matter.
Yeah, it's frustrating. I try to keep in mind that no one can understand all that comes with a child with ASD. There's no one size fits all program or service or program or level. I had a court judge tell me "...it seems as through your son has Aspergers, not ADS, and should be just fine." Really? I mean, really!
