Will He Talk?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 3and 1/2 year old is minimally verbal. He only repeats words or short sentences like'feet down' or 'see you soon'. he also dose'nt initiate conversation. He just lead you to or points to what he wants. He also screams when he wants to eat or nap. is there hope that he would talk in the future? I mean actually hold a conversation.?? Pls help!

The ones that helped the most are acetyl-l-carnitine, coenzyme q10, and Behavior Balance DMG. We saw a mild acceleration in the rate of improvement from the methyl B12 injections but not as dramatic as the others. Our biomed dr. is planning on trying n-acetyl-cysteine next but first DD has to finish her anti-yeast treatment because he says NAC can exacerbate yeast.

Start speech therapy ASAP. The sooner children begin such services the better!

Most children with ASD will have the ability to talk, however it requires a bit more than minimal attention and here and there teaching.

I recommend you see a speech pathologist or a behavioural worker that works with children with autism. He will need IBI whether you perform it, or someone else does.

There are many strategies and programs that will help him improve his speech. You know that he's repeating things hat have ben previously said, which is sign that he will be able to talk, he just needs some help.

I don't know if his special ed is anything like what my kids got, but the teachers of the main class basically built on what the speech therapist was doing with my boys. With only 6-10 kids, they really catered the program to the needs of the students, and my sons were placed with other kids who needed help in speech; so they ended up getting a lot more help with speech than just the time spent with the actual SLP.
