hi i am mom of son who non verbel age 19 with two eye disorters who is stronger then me and i really need a group home we live here in connecticut and all i am hearing there no new funding and waiting list is long for group home ....we are also maybe thinking of leaving our state ...but i like to live in state that has funding for group homes and the waiting list is not that long...so what does it take to get a group home....i wrote to letters to senator governor and my conngressmen local and… read more

I just found out that Autism Speaks has a list of group homes by state on its website!

Check out "The Benedictine School" in Ridgely Maryland. It my be far from you but it is an exceptional school and one of the best ones in the States.

thankyou johnathan has state medical insurance here in ct along with ssi....johnathan goes to riverstreet school here in connecticut till he 21....

I no oklahoma has a kibois wear they get live in house have staff 24 hours day teach every day living and find small jobs for them

Yes, VA has an emergency waiver program. They do not like to disclose the information but the funding is there. I can walk you through the process if you like. If your son is in school still, you
Apply right away for the waiver and make sure you specify your child's disabilities beside autism. If your child has "Intellectual Disabilities", chances are he'll be put on top of the waiver's list.
