@A MyAutismTeam Member thank you so much for sharing. I Think it so important for families to really come together at such a time to really give support not only to the children but to the parents as well. Thank you for providing that support, it's not about us,but for the our children. My boys are 19 now and the journey still continues, follow the yellow brick road!
@Niecey-Hello there. I am a grandmother of twin autistic 12 year old girls. Need I say more. What a bundle of energy they both are and yes, they keep grandma on her toes with all that spirit. My daughter and most of the family try and help out as best we can. We all live together which is very stressful at times and works on my nerves at all the adults who have different parenting styles, but we all moved in for financial reasons and for the sake of the twins.
It has been very interesting from birth until today. They will be 13 on July 31 and we can not wait to see what it is they will do. One is non verbal and the other is high functioning and the two of them keep life interesting. Sometimes we have good days and sometimes we have bad days. Their father left after he could not deal with autistic twins and had children with another woman and moved. Can you imagine such a thing. He referred to them as "broken dolls" and had it not been for my law enforcement training, I probably would have been arrested when I heard him say this.
But through it all I would not trade any of it for anything as I have found that all the knowledge and interesting things I have witnessed and learned has become the most valuable thing ever. Trust and believe that from this grandma.
