My 6 yr old loves his EZ roller. It's not a bike or a scooter though. It sits low to the ground so he doesn't have to worry about falling. It is a lot of fun and let's him be out and about with other kids.

My son did not learn to ride a 2 wheeler until he was about 15. We tried when he was younger but we were never able to get his confidence up and then he was just too big for us to teach. So we bought him an adult trike. He absolutely loved this and his confidence soared. When he was 15 a program came around our area to teach disabled kids to ride a bike and we decided to try it. Well they were able to do in 2 wks what we never could do. So now he rides a 2 wheeler, but I think part of his learning was that he had lots of confidence and independence from the trike. Hope that helps...

thanks for the idea...but I don't think she'd go for the trike...the big-ness mainly...but also possibly (???) the 'association'. thanks though! :)

Have you thought about an adult trike. My son had a hard time with the bike and so wanted to give up his training wheels. My mom found a big (not quite adult but not for toddlers) tricycle that was painted like a fire truck with a pull behind wagon. He loved it and is now asking for an adult trike since this one is getting a little small. You can find several really nice adult trikes that look really cool.

we HAVE gone to the store to look and try...and initially she was ONLY willing to do the scooter...but then I asked her to TRY the bike and then she jumped on and got into THAT idea...I think right now I just want to get it all SETTLED...Sara's in a really good GROOVE right now---physically and mentally...so I want to do it 'now'-kwim?
Thanks for posting! :)
