Has anyone tried giving Carlson fish oil to their child? If yes did it make any noticeable changes? I read a really positive review from a parent that tried on a child with severe autism.
I'd love to get him back on it though, as I do believe its very important for that kiddos brain while its still developing. My recommendation is to try it. His doseage was 2teaspoons, but you'd probably do well to start off with 1t for a week, then bump up to 2.
he didn't like the Carlson's or he was feed up with the Zoloft or the enzymes but I stopped giving him Carlson's bc he really needed the Rx meds more than the natural stuff at the time. More than likely it WAS the Carlson's. if he'll swallow liquid meds then it shouldn't be a problem, it's just that oiliness that I think turned my son off of it. He won't do straight up meds... I always have to disguise it in something. I tried it myself and I didn't find it too horrible but did notice the oily texture. My kiddo is horrible with textures.
Our biomed dr. normally recommends Carlson's. My DD was already on Coromega and liked that, so our dr. said it was okay to keep her on that. The dosage he has her on is 2 Coromega packets/day. Not sure what that translates to with the Carlson's. FWIW, she had been taking lower-dose Nordic Naturals since way before her diagnosis for general nutritional support and I didn't notice any significant improvements when switched her to the Coromega shortly after her diagnosis. I figure it's good for her cardiovascular system if nothing else.
I wish I had an answer, but I am wondering about this too. Our OT suggested fish oil but I'm a little lost as to what kind/how much to give? I will probably call our pediatrician for dose.
Yes, I had my son on Carlson's. I got it to replace the holy-cow expensive omega-3's my son's naturopathic doctor sells out if his practice. Carlson's was highly recommended/reviewed on Amazon and a lot less expensive. My son was taking it in his morning OJ (or lemonade) that also had his Zoloft and enzymes in it. He tolerated it well for a couple weeks then he decided to b bullheaded and not drink it at all. Don't know if it was bc
