Riding The School Bus To Preschool
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Anyone have experience with their preschooler riding the bus? I took my son to school this year but thinking about it for the fall in the mornings and then I'd pick him up. Early mornings are so tough with having a younger two year old getting out the door so early in the morning. This year I just wasn't ready to have my then three-year-old sending off on the bus, but I think I'm ready now...but still a little nervous about sending my baby off on the bus. Any advice or words of wisdom? Thanks a… read more

We were very worried about our little man going on bus but the drivers were wonderful and caring and would make him always feel special, and would also let us know if there were any incidents we should be concerne about.

That is so great to hear, joSpargo! I love hearing hopeful stories like this. :) and it's so good to have a support system with all of you. Thank you all for helping me to feel like I'm not the only one going through this! :)

We had an aid and a bus driver and they were amazing and caring! My son was always very excited about getting on the bus. It was a positive experience for him. He just completed 1st grade, has ridden a special bus for 5 years and has always had good experiences. As with everything you need to be cautious and aware of any warning signs from your child that there are problems.

BTW My husband drives bus for special needs adults. You will not fund a more caring wonderful bus driver anywhere. He loves being able to help these people. Most of the drivers he has met are the same.
