One of my twin daughters was recently diagnosed with HFASD (old Asperger's). Does anyone have information on the prevalence, instances. or probability of genetically identical twins with HFASD?
Actually, the statistics for identical twins are much higher than for other siblings. When I was getting twins tested, I found stats that were all over the board but most fell within the 60% to 80% range, I even found one that said it could be as high as 98% but that seems like an outlier. Good luck!
Thanks for your replies. I've gone ahead and started to enquire some local universities to seek assessment for my other twin daughter. Cheers!
If a sibling has ASD than your child's risk is a 1:5 chance they will also have ASD. I have 1 son Aspergers and 1 son PDD-NOS and a 3rd son NT
Not sue what the studies say about twins but I know your chances increase with each child you have with autism. I have 3 boys on the spectrum, my parent advocate has 3 kids 2 boys and the youngest a girl on the spectrum, my husband works with someone who oldest was diagnoses with autism and then her tripletes are all on the spectrum. I also know lots of people that have NT kids and autistic kids.
