Hi , My 21 Month Old Son Was Just Diagnosed With Autism Spectrum Disorder . He's Had Many Delays So Had Early Intervention
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

He has 1 hour of speech , 1 hour OT And 3 hours of DI...So the doctor wants to add ABA therapy ! How to incorporate this and feeling very overwhelmed right now . I'm assuming a home based therapy. How much for this little guy and where and how to begin??

You have started interventions at such a young age and this will make a world of difference in your sons future. Aba can be very successful and worthwhile and since he is so young some agencies will come to your home which will make managing the schedule a bit easier.
When my son began early intervention around age 2 we were getting about 7-8 hours aba, 2 hours ot and 2 hours st. Every agency is different and you may have to fight a bit to get what you want for your son but it will be worth it in the end.
As far as feeling overwhelmed it is very normal at the stage you are in and eventually you will find your way and what works for your son, but it may take time. Progress is different for every child so don't get discouraged and the fact you intervened so early truly will help. Best of luck!!

I would take any therapy that you can get, and ABA is a very important one, also the earlier you start getting your child help the better it will be for him later.

Feeling overwhelmed is normal we all do at times. The thing is that this is just the first step in a changing life for a parent of an ASD child. You are going to have to spend a lot of time with therapies and appointments so any normal life you thought you were going to have has now changed and the most important job you have is to be your child's advocate. The more time you spend helping your child the more benefits it will be for him later in life. We are all here to give advise if you need it.

Thank you so much everyone!! I know it will be a very long road and everyone has been so supportive . I think we have to take it one day at a time! and everyone has also said that it is great because things will be in place so early on ... thank you again!

I have always said, "We cannot do everything, but we will do everything we can". Take it one day at a time. You are in the throws of Autism at that age, lots of stuff going on with a little one. Depending on where you live, you kiddo may not qualify for early childhood intervention (age 3 where we live) so you may be looking at home based or therapy centers until they are old enough. hang in there!!!
