Considering b12 injections, does anyone do this and what was your successes or failure.
We do methylB12 shots every other day. It has been one of the best biomed intervention that we have tried. The effects for us are immediate and if we miss a shot and go four days without it, the speech drops down dramatically. But after a shot, he is back to talking a storm. There are couple of published studies on MB12; one that showed about a third of the kids who are clear responders. The other showed MB12 with folinic acid improved glutathione level to almost normal levels. We also supplement methyl folate instead of folinic acid. MB12 is one of the highest rated biomed treatment that most DAN doctors will recommend to try. It was worth it for us.
Your need to see a DAN doctor or naturopath who knows Dr Neubrander protocol/dosage. It is by prescription only. Oral doesn't have the same efficacy since oral absorption of MB12 is less than 5%.
My son takes a few vitamin supplements with his morning meds. He takes b12 (brain function), fish oil (attention), and gaba (calm) as well as acidophilus (reflux & heartburn). I feel that they make a positive difference in his cognitive and emotional well-being. I highly recommend doing some research though. I took a nutrition class, talked to my sons psychiatrist, who said "it can't hurt" (he's a hoot) in addition to the research.
This is a great video on the Autism Research Institute site by Dr. Deth on methylation (and findings on MethylB12 - this part comes 26 minutes in or so). It is a bit dry/technical but a good introduction to this area of research in ASD. Worth watching if you are more research / medically inclined.

I know this a bit down the road but my son's psychiatrist recently informed me that Lamictal depletes folic acid. He recommended that my son start taking a supplement. I just wanted to put that out there in case that information could assist anyone.
