What To Do When Your Child Is Bad Words.
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My 5 year old son has started to say vulgar language that I don't use.He likes to watch youtube and this where he's getting it from. How can I HV him stop in a way that he understands and not just fear the consequence of it being said.

I don't ignore it when he uses bad language. I don't freak out either. I look at him with my "mad" face and calmly ask,"What did you say?" and he will change the word to fridge. He will say fridge is ok. He doesn't like it when mommy has a mad face. I also make sure to the best of my ability that the safety controls are on when he is using the computer. I have a you tube account, google account on his computer and I set up the filters. Some questionable stuff will get through but I still have to do what I can to protect him.

Unfortunately we live in a computer age. Growing up, my mom would just take away his movies that had any language in it. That's where he would pick it up from.
