What Can I Expect From Physical Therapy?
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My three year old autistic daughter is starting therapy in the morning. Can anyone tell me what to expect?

The PT that my little one did was set up as an obstacle course. She would have to do things like walk on a balance beam, jump from one hula hoop to another, walk up and down stairs, ride a tricycle, play a game of catch with the therapist, etc.

Hi there! I'm going back several years, but my son had PT when he was your daughter's age. Definitely improved his gross motor skills since he was developmentally delayed. He also had OT and speech therapy, They also helped tremendously..The trick is starting this stuff when your bambino is young. In our case, my son progressed incrementally, but ended up,just fine. I think each case is different, but PT is worth a try. Hugs to,you and your daughter.

Thanks for all of your responses. She's adjusting well to pt. I didn't realize that she had some if the problems that she has until pt pointed them out. They have fitted her for a boot to go in her shoes to prevent/ correct the toe walking.
