There are lots of aveneues to explore here. How new is this Behavior? has she had a big life change ? Do you feel she has anxiety? sometimes aggression comes out and it is actually anxiety. Any recent break ups, bullying happen? Does she experience her body get this way before her cycle? does she experience cramps or body aches with that? How is her sleep patterns, does she have asthma or snore ? Consider if you do not sleep or have appropriate sleep you will be a grizzly bear! with physical and emotional issues addressed, and out of the way you may, you may want to check the route of meds to take the edge off, the down side of Meds are you have to be diligent in taking them at the same time, and watching for drastic changes. Be prepared you may have to try many of them, And prepare Her too. that she may feel weird with some of them and perhaps you may find the right one right away, let her know it will take some time to see a significant difference like weeks.. but, with Mom and Dads help your all a team. to get her to a healthy spot. she may have a issue where her system is not producing any dopamine or epinifrin, If you can show her what is happening this to may help her feel at ease.. It is NO FUN for her, not knowing what her body is doing.. We have a daughter who is 14 who has severe mood/ sleep/ pain and migraine swings her body is not producing this chemical at all..causing awful issues for her. she has had the CT scans with contrast nothing weird showed up in that ..We started Welbutrin and Ambilify, for many that works, for but, it did not for my daughter, Right now she is off all meds, . I wanted to first address the sleep, by getting a referral for a sleep Apnea and EEG test. This is helpful piece of info if your daughter too if she has snoring or asthma or increase in weight gain, all contributes to issues with sleep. that is directly attached to ones mood.Your doctor may start with an SSRI for her, Your Doctor needs all the information and some consistant information before he would even try to set her on the right one! My suggestion to all parents is try the Meds, if you have exhausted all els, track it daily tell the teachers and school what your doing to so they can be part of that team of care for your daughter. Having your daughter participate in the treatment and know her self is a great idea too.mTeachher how to track with you. Get her a Journal. to jot down what is going on. Have a daughter father or mother time every week set aside that you just talk about how she is doing over dinner or a movie.I developed for my daughter and 3 other girls a braclet system that when she wore her blue bracelet that meant she was not feeling good and we needed to be more carful with her, yellow was for another feeling and Black was another.. Help her to develop comfort measure for herself told her to slow down ask for help or meds, take breaks, get a heating pad or a cold pack.

There starting to use Prozac as a therapy as well for this, the Low dose of birth control is helping regulate the hormones, Girls with ASD will have more sever sensitivity with there cycles, due to any change in the body, triggers this reaction with mood some SSRI's take the edge off for these girls. I would know, I had that my self. and had fibercystic ovaries, it is awful to hurt that bad.. Parents note that there is always a reason for behavior, many times it is driven by internal issues such as pain, adrenal disfuction, neurological issues, GI tract disfuncitons like constipation will also trigger awful mood swings due to the discomfort and the toxin issues that come with that . The key to discovering how your child ticks are, checking off the boxes that apply to them. Journal what your doing and how they are feeling. ask questions and look for soluitons. Daily ! many ASD kids suffer with , diabetic/ thyroid issues, when your insulin is out of wack that also causes moody ness tiredness acheyness.
I am glad you mentioned that Lauraczr, about the BC pills it is the regulation of the hormones that also helps with comfort and the irregular surges of hormones these girls have to deal with.
God Bless and Keep trouble shooting !

Is Gabrielle constipated often? she may have yeast over growth, and needs a nystatin. Tummy troubles are in 80% of kids with ASD and a probiotic would not hurt :)
Good luck with everything ! Thank you for prayers .We will keep in touch.

Dear Helper, we did get a sleep study, her natural pathic doctor thinks she may have a little apnea. It was impossible for her to keep the equipment on. I would but the oxygen tube near her. But I wasn't sleeping much and she wasn't getting all that benefit. Good luck with your sleep study. I will have Kate and you in my prayers and I thank you for yours, sometimes that is all we have to lean on. I am so glad you are checking her prolactin, let me know how her blood work turns out. I really believe that most of Gabrielle's aggressiveness is due to stomach pain. We just sent in a stool test, will see what it turns up.
