I'm a Parent Educator providing a consumer perspective and Autism Self-Advocate. I'm 24 years old. My goal is to help parents, caregivers, teachers, and others to better understand what my life is like on the spectrum. Well, I personally noticed around 5th grade (11 years old). I started acting like a dog in the classroom as a way of coping with the world around me. I was originally diagnosed with Asperger's the next year, but it was dismissed because I "was social", had "high grades" and am "a girl". I was officially diagnosed when I was 15, in 10th grade.
