How Does Everyone Celebrate Halloween With Their Children? Is There Any Suggestions For Costumes?

We haven't really done halloween with Clara yet. She is three and we have been invited to a halloween party that some family is throwing. I was just wondering what everyone else does with there kids. Makeup and anything involving her hair is out.

I have tried for several years to dress my daughter up in something trendy or that I would like her in, but THIS year... I went with Hello Kitty 2 piece pj's and a cat winter hat. I want her cozy, plus she can wear it much more than one time. I am finally letting go of what I want her to do, and letting her just be happy and comfortable.

My son has major sensory issues so Halloween is tough on us. I have always made his costumes so I can be sure the material is something he can tolerate. I normally use a plain hoodie or sweat clothes as the base. This year he is going to be a super hero so I used sweat pants and a sweat shirt then I found a shiny material for the cape and letter on his chest. Felt is also good for decorating with. The hardest part is getting him to wear it and go trick or treating, last year he was miserable and it took about 45 minutes of convincing before he would go up to someones door. We also allowed him to ride in his play car/wagon to each house since riding in it was a familiar thing. Hope this helps :)

Bring back the fashionable 1970's! Several years ago my daughter was dressed in bell-bottoms butterfly collar shirt an Afro and some costume jewelry.

We started slow with our daughter and got her used to play dresses she could wear around the house. After she was ok with that we let her stay in the car while we took her brother door to door. After doing this we took her out and started walking with her but did not have her go to the door for a bit. Finally we brought her up to doors and did it as long as she could tolerate it. Then we would have her in the car again and it worked out pretty well. The first year she lasted about 15mins and now she will do about 45 but she like just watching the other kids more than doing it herself

Like many of you hats and masks just do not work for my son. We stick to just costumes.
