This is an interesting medical hypothesis supported by newer 2013 correlation risk factor study - use of acetaminophen (Tylenol) in very young children as potential cause of ASD.

Unfortunately we did use Tylenol in first three months of life (but also had 20 of the 25 other risk factors also correlated with ASD including mercury exposure). We switched to Advil instead more than a year and half ago.
What do you think? Do you use Tylenol… read more
Yes and unfortunately it is more recommended by docs than Advil. Our son actually does better when he has a fever or if given Advil. I wasn't aware there are 2600 studies on the toxicity of acetaminophen and the 9x risk factor for ASD but did know to avoid as precaution last year and have been recommending the same to all of our friends that are expecting. The evidence may be correlation and circumstantial rather than causal (need more studies) but this is one risk that can be completely avoided.
New warning from the FDA on the liver toxicity of tylenol/acetaminophen and recommending to limit dosage. They should have gone step further and said do not give to pregnant women or kids.

100% tylenol and ibuprofen.
my mom took Advil and had liver disease and it's the only thing we can relate it to and all the advil was banished from the house.. so yes I switched to tylenol. I don't feel good going to advil. :/ I have.. but I don't like it and I doubt it's healthy for baby either.
Wow, Tylenol had never worked well for our son, but we have used it in conjunction with ibuprophen in the past when he has been sick. We haven't used the Tylenol in years because I felt it lacked worth. This is scary information. Children with Asp have a much lower tolerance to pain I believe. They get very focused on one thing so sometimes the pain or temp etc. can become worse to them due to how they process things.
