A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

It is hard to know if it is intellectual disability or other verbal/ speech/ motor skill delay? ABA still helpful?

ABA has been great for for of my kids. I have two little girls and they Early Intensive Behavior Intervention has focused almost entirely on skill acquisition, not changing difficult behaviors. They have both learned potty training, teeth brushing, hand washing, dressing, a lot of self care as well as letter and number matching, ID, labeling, counting, singing ABCs, identifying familiar people, places and things, stuff like that. It's been really great . The more the kids learn to communicate, the happier they are and we all are as a family .

I'm sorry I was not clear. She is 7. School tested her and says 3 yr old level. On IEP. She has intellectual disability, speech impairment, ohi, for ADHD. I recently rcvd Pddnos from dr. Because I asked for it. In order to get referral for ABA therapy. I have not pursued the AU eligibility at school yet. As of course they would do their own testing My question is ABA therapy. My Emily is social. And I heard bad things about ABA.
