Has Anyone Tried Syntocinin Nasal Spray (Oxytocin) To Help Ease Anxiety?
The results were noticeable within the first month. Our biomed dr. says that if kids aren't showing any improvement within 2 months, they probably are non-responders. We haven't noticed any negative side effects.
Thank You for your post, so glad you have had positive results. Do you know approx. how long it was before you noticed the improvements and were there any negative side effects noticed?
Thanks!
We have seen a positive response to Oxytocin nasal spray (better social interaction and more complex pretend play) but it hasn't seemed to make a difference in terms of anxiety symptoms. Omega 3's are supposed to be good for anxiety so you may want to consider adding them or increasing the dosage.
There have been about a half dozen human trials of oxytocin in ASD, most showing benefit and most recent one did not. The efficacy seen is with respect to emotion, repetitive behaviour and social but not anxiety specifically. There are about a dozen or so more oxytocin trials (largest being 300 kids) in ASD ongoing throughout the world. Notwithstanding some parents and docs have tried this. We will ask about it next time we see our doctor. Might try it for a week or so to see if it makes any difference.
Sound interesting, I hadn't heard of this yet!
