Make sure to make to "friends": find someone who is familiar with the local system and your state's laws, even if they don't speak Russian, like another parent, a case worker, or a special education advocate. Also make friends with someone who speaks Russian, but also speaks English better than you, so if you need help translating or writing a letter, that will help you. Wish I knew more about your state & town.

Hello Celine! Thank you , I understand ! Today I have IEP meeting ....... I feel better ... Now is Chang IEP looks is better than last year ..... I think , maybe not have experience with high function autistic kids , because not agree with me last year , my son haves autism ....... Speech therapeutic and special educational teacher tell me - " you don't now autistic kids! You son not have autism!" Now I have diagnosis and I now what is need doing , and how I can help my son ! Talk to your case manager at the school, contact social services for a social worker, be very aggressive. Make a list of everything that is different/wrong from last school. Can you reach out to someone who is bilingual but more fluent in English to help you?

Your son's age is difficult - when they begin to feel difference.

Remember, you have to work with school, so you have to be nice, but you are his advocate so you have to be strong and push the school in the right direction. Talk to them like "I noticed these things are wrong or missing, how are we going to fix it?" Have someone help you put everything in writing to the school.

We're I can find a Special Ed. Advocate ? We speak Russian language . My son 10 years , all 10 years (my son have 1,5 years we coming USA) , I understand somting is wrong . I asking doctor all time , doctor tell -"no, problem!" My son start speak first word 4yars old, everything scary , no liked playing with toys , nothing liked..... Now my son have speech problem , expressive language and compressive language (Russian language same problem) but English second language , and my son better understand explaining from English than Russian . School tell ESL (English second language)program for student hu have problem leering because English second language , you son have English problem from autism...... My son starting depression , because see he is different , not heaved progress in school , my son tell me ----" mom , I am sorry I stupid son, very worry by self about progress. Last year 3grade my son can't writing in general classroom any work not can doing , and home work to , school tell " ok, not need doing " my son Crain , mama why ?i won't doing writing , try again ,and again Crain . My son not hearing middle sound , I not understand why ? Befor we going other school 3years , my son have progress , and this school second year . Do you have a social worker or other support? I've seen the 100 day kit in Spanish,but are there other options? Can you find a Special Ed Advocate through an advocacy group? What language do you speak at home? Good luck!
