Opinion On Medicaid Or Medi-Cal Doctors
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Just wondered about doctors accepting Medicaid or Medi/Cal. Are the doctors any good ? Also wondered about access to specialists under this system. All comments are most welcome.

We just got Medicaid and it is the best. We are entitled to see any specialist at Children's Hospital and receive OT for basically free. I found other services like speech therapy, physical therapy, etc, that also take Medicaid. Still struggling with finding a Psychiatrist but that will come. Prescription medications are $1.

I do not know about Medi\Cal but I can tell you there are fewer and fewer doctors who will take Medicaid. Fortunately for us we have to have insurance so Medicaid for us is MassHealth which you have to have if you have no other insurance so they pay for most things so the doctors will take it.

Thanks! My adult son is on my health plan thanks to the Affordable Health Care Act. I'm not wild about him relying on Medi-Cal when he turns 26. We have the same issues in California about doctors accepting Medi-Cal. Looks like a giant HMO to me and I'm concerned about the quality of care under this system.
