I understand the learning to ride a bicycle can be difficult for our kids. Have you been successful in teaching your child? If so, any tips you'd like to share? How old we're they when they learned?
This was huge for us ! We tried and tried w no luck.alot of anger from him, fear and irritation, for years then one day we said he just won't ride a bike.... Last year he picked it up and road it.... Smiling like crazy! He was 10. Still can't use scissors or tie shoes, but he can ride a bike although he isn't into it anymore.:(
Yes, my son learned by himself, i am so proud of him, now i should tell you that he hated the bike for 2 years, but when he was 6, one day he started and he never stoped, he learn like in 1 month to ride without trainning wheels, i am still amazed, guess what is he getting for christmas? A new bike
If your son really wants to learn he will doit... My son fall a lot of times, but he try and try, i know it was hard for him, but is a miracle, he made it. He now rides all day, every day. He really enjoy himself
On some bikes you can remove the pedals (and put them back on later) and now you have a "balance bike" for a kid bigger than a toddler without spending outrageous money :)
We haven't tried bicycle without trainer wheels yet but for general balance and coordination, ice skating is a great way. It is hard but once mastered, it can give a lot of confidence. Next I would try balancing on a three and then two wheel kick scooter. These are a lot of fun for kids as well. Once these are mastered I believe riding a bicycle should be much easier.
Thanks for the great responses. I hopeful that one day this will be in his future!
