Daycare High Functioning Son Miami Area
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can anyone help me getting a good daycare for my son in the MIami/kendall area? he is 3 years old and very high functional, I have been suggested to have him in a daycare so he can improve on his social skills but I feel that in daycares the teachers just don't understand him. I am actively looking for a good daycare for him, any recommendations?

I lived in Florida and am not a big fan of services in the state, or the quality of the care and therapies other than specialized ASD providers you have to pay out of pocket for and even at that I only trusted Eden.

In general both in daycare and some of the schools for that matter the staff is trained in general special needs and are not very experienced in ASD. There is a huge difference because general special Ed trained people are not trained in behavior issues like with ASD. This is not only a Florida problem but I found it far worse there then in the North.

If you are considering a daycare you need to do your research and really check into the training the staff has before leaving your child there
