My daughter is getting a SPECT scan of her brain at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia next month. I was wondering if anyone elses children have experienced this, and what the outcome was.
My son hasn't had this done, but looked it up and when we finally see a neurologist again in March I am going to ask about this! It sounds like it MIGHT be helpful to make sure there are not issues with bloodflow or function with the structures of the brain…
I have known a couple of families who have had MRI's most come up normal, one still showed a slight evidence of the two strokes her son had as a premie (they had known about these years before) and one showed "static encephalopathy" which just meant there was inflammation but it wasn't getting worse. I am one who believes the more information you have the better! Especially with the medical field getting more into specific treatment options.
