Hi,
My insurance does not cover ABA Therapy, can anyone suggest ABA home based therapy services near Edison ,NJ which I can afford.
You can try Icare therapy, I'm not exactly sure how far they travel but they covet most insurances. If you need more information let me know.
I am not familiar with NJ, but I have heard that there are some good books that can help you get started at home on your own. I would start with "Let me Hear Your Voice", or one of the similar books, depending on what your biggest need is.
Even if you can find good in-home therapy, you will find that most kids will benefit as many hours of trial and reinforcement as you can possibly arrange. 30 to 40 hours a week should be the goal, in my opinion. Some very good research has demonstrated that if you can do 40 or more, it will only help, it will not hurt.
It requires time and effort to do it yourself, but it is worth it. You might be able to find an on-line source that can help you write the program and keep track of progress, but you might have to do almost all the real work yourself.
Not every child responds to ABA, but it is still the gold standard of therapy. More kids respond to ABA than to any other single therapy. And more is better.
