My son is home schooled thru K12. Outside of not having in person social interaction with other students, my son has done great with their program. His special education teacher is available to me whenever I have a question or issue, and the services provided to him (social education reading, writing, and speech therapy) are right in par with his needs. They do his annual IEP, and just like public school, I can call for a meeting to revise it when I find it necessary.
Don't forget to look for services and evaulations that can help you help your child overcome the struggles rather than move them away from them. Find the level grade by grade your child is functioning on thru an IEP, use Federal Laws to protect what your child needs to be able to overcome and or cope with some of these issues. There is help and training and therapy and assistance. Don't pull your child out of social environments automatically perhaps until you can also put them in a class/group that helps him continue to work thru this feeling of anxiety/sensory stimulation etc. If one issue with school is a problem then our IPE coordinator is required by Federal Law to help you help that child. PUSH TO LEARN THESE RIGHTS .....IT CAN MAKE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE FOR ALL OF YOU. You may move forward as you are telling here, but first look help via therapy, play groups, etc.and IEP.
My youngest takes classes on line from k12 my oldest is in a program called Artec and when done will be home schooled she can't do the crowds in a junior or high school so we think it's better for her to be at home where they have less distraction and more support
