A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

My family is relocating to FL and the Brevard area in a month for my husband's new job. I have 3 children; one in middle, and 2 in elementary school, my two youngest have been diagnosed with autism, but my eldest will be getting a diagnosis soon, and my middle one in a self-contained classsrom.

Debbie, did you wind up moving? How did it go? We are relocating to the same area soon. Any info would be helpful, thanks!

Okay, thanks. I know that the school system in Florida is one of the least funded/good..I was curious about the Melbourne area specifically which gets better reviews/ratings on greatschools than a lot of other areas in Florida.

Unfortunately the special ED system in FL is not all that good, and the state does not offer much in the way of services either, we left because of that. The districts in the state offer ASD classrooms but they are combined classrooms so they mix more sever children with higher functioning children in the same room. Also most of the teachers are special ED teachers with some extra class training so most of them are not good with behavior issues.
