Try "hyperlexia" as a search term and the Yahoo group called Hyperlex. Hyperlexia has a variable definition but often it's used to mean reading comprehension that lags decoding. A book on it is "Drawing a Blank" by Emily Iland and another applicable book might be "left-brained child in a right brained world" by Katharine Beals. Beals book is mostly a criticism of the English class rather than actionable suggestions though.
