Disneyland And Autism
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

How does the disability card work I read about it online many sites sounds like you have to wait still. We go to six flags a lot and we get passes and by pass everyone in line at the gate which is a lifesaver. My son cannot wait without a meltdown even visuals don't work. So before I book my kids first Disneyland trip this fall I really want to know how the waiting for rides works and shows also. Any info or advice would be very grateful for thanks a bunch: )

When we made our trip there a few years ago we didn't have any Dr. documentation with us. So I took my son with me into the office to register for the disability card. He was anxious, worked up and doing his anxious movements thing, the worker 'saw' the need and gave us our card on the spot. It was AMAZING to have! At the end of our day there we were in the 3D movie when we came out we were RIGHT under the fireworks it was like entering a war zone. My son immediately began screaming an covering his ears. We took off running to the closest 'quiet' ride (Winnie the Pooh). The worker saw and heard us coming (I had my card in hand)she stopped the line and waved us through a special gate and directly onto the ride. The doors closed behind us and it was incredibly quiet. This was not the first time that the Disney staff came to our aide that day, they were AMAZING and we were there on Christmas Eve (crazy busy). To this day he remembers the visit with a smile. I'm not sure if this trip was before or after the switch, but it worked out for us. Some of the rides we had to come back for but since we had a time to be there it worked out. We did wait a short time for some of the 'big' attractions like space mountain, but all in all it was a blessing to have the pass!!

The switch and the reservations do not work for us you still have to wait. It is not easy to go to a ride and make an appointment so to speak and then go back. This is still not what it used to be where you just went in another entrance
