Is There Any Tools I Csn Get To Help With Potty Traing
A MyAutismTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm looking for ways to help my son learn that he is a big boy and needs to use the toilet when he needs to use the bathroom and not a diaper. And that he needs to wear underwear and not a pull-up

I don't punish my children we always talk to them about what they have done and why it is wrong to do it. So far he only goes to the potty at home because at school they make him wear a diaper even after me asking them not to let him that he needs to learn and school is starting back on the 25th of this month and I want him completely out of diapers and pull-ups. He will go everywhere buy school so it's hard for me to make him understand why he has to do this out of school.

Well I can't change schools we only have one school in the town I live in and moving isn't a option for us so we have to work with what we have so it's hard to get the help we need when the town we live in is only 1000 people in it and he is the only one with autism.

I don't feel like a complete failure on potty training when a daycare and a special ed class have failed as well. They should have more experience than I do but I get the feeling they just stop trying after a while. Now we're trying another school for disabled kids and we signed up for a special potty training workshop session with the Marcus Autism Center in Atlanta. Maybe the third time is the charm but this has become far harder than I thought.

The only thing I go to is his ARD meetings but School hasn't started yet so when it does I will talk to them and ask about it because I have never heard of that so maybe I should look in to that
